Nina Mason has just re-released significantly revised editions of the books previously published as Starry Knight and Dark and Stormy Knight. If you’ve read them in the original version, you might want to do so again because they’re very different now. If you haven’t yet checked out Nina’s excellent books, you don’t know what you’re missing!
Knights of the Tarot, a four-part series, was born of a relatively simple concept. Nina wanted to write a paranormal/fantasy series incorporating different forms of divination. Tarot cards, astrology, runes, numerology, and the like. From that kernel grew the overarching storyline. The heroes of this contemporary paranormal series are Scottish noblemen of times past who were taken by the faeries into Avalon to serve as breeding drones to the queen, the legendary Morgan le Fay. Each of the books tells the story of a particular knight and the heroine whose love saves him from his unhappy existence.
Each hero grapples with a different relationship with their cruel and selfish queen. Callum Lyon, the knight of book one (Knight of Wands), is free of Morgan’s influence, having escaped Avalon after faking his death. Leith MacQuill, the knight of book two (Knight of Cups), was expelled from Avalon after the queen discovered his affair with one of the ladies of her court. To punish Leith, Morgan cursed him so any women he should fall in love with in the future would die.
In book three (Knight of Pentacles, which releases on June 13), Axel Lochlann, a rune-casting Highlander of Viking descent, is still enslaved to the queen, who he serves as a guardian of the portal between the mortal and immortal realms.
The Knight of Swords (book four) is Finn MacKnight does not yet know he is destined to fulfill an ancient prophecy telling of the queen’s overthrow by a natural-born drone.
The knights are blood-drinking shape-shifters who can assume the form of any creature, real or mythical, but generally take the form of their alter ego. Callum’s preferred form is a lion, Leith’s is a Kellas Cat, Axel’s is a gyrfalcon, and Finn’s is a jaguar.

Here’s the blurb for Knight of Wands:
Paranormal Investigator Vanessa Meadows believes in every kind of magic except love. When her new boss sends her on an assignment to remote Caithness, Scotland, she’s determined to do whatever it takes to prove the Vampire of Barrogill is more than a legend. First, however, she must get inside the castle where the entity is believed to dwell.
Castle Barrogill belongs to Callum Lyon, a handsome baron and reclusive political astrologer. Their strong mutual attraction proves a boon to Vanessa’s plans, but, once inside his castle, she encounters more paranormal activity than she bargained for. There’s no vampire, but there is a blood-drinking faery knight—and a ghost who will stop at nothing to keep her there. Will freedom-loving Vanessa’s feelings for Callum, coupled with nudges from the other side, be enough to persuade her to give him a chance? Or will the dark secrets of Castle Barrogill only reinforce her unwillingness to put her faith in the power of love?
Here’s an excerpt from Knight of Wands:
“Have a look at your adoring fan over there,” Duncan said, leaning in. “I do believe she’s visually undressing you.”
Callum looked up from the book he’d been signing Political Astrology through the Ages, his latest in a series on the subject. The fan in question stood by the refreshment table, clutching the book to her chest. Was she undressing him with her gaze? A smile stole across his mouth as interest deepened its hook. Judging by the heat of her stare, he was already naked in her mind.
While delivering his lecture on the same topic, he’d seen her in the third row, giving him equally heated looks. All through his talk, her presence, not to mention her seductive stare, had made it difficult to concentrate on his notes. Luckily, he knew the topic well enough to wing it.
Licking his lips, he traced the long, smooth contours of flesh and muscle beneath the posh black pantsuit she wore. She was tall and slender—willowy—with an angular face and a wide, full mouth that stretched into an inviting smile as his gaze met hers with an electrical charge he felt in his groin. Her eyes were as blue and deep as a loch. Mesmerized, he returned the smile. How easily he could get lost in those eyes, forget how to swim, and realize too late he was drowning.
He lowered his gaze to her breasts, which were large, firm, and unharnessed. Did she have an aversion to undergarments? He hoped not, given his penchant for naughty lingerie. He dressed her in a lacy black corset and thigh-high stockings. Oh, aye. She definitely had the figure to indulge his weakness. Swallowing his rising lust, he shifted in his chair to ease the tightening in his trousers.
Turning to Duncan, he asked, “Who is she? Do you know?”
“I’m afraid I don’t,” his friend replied.
Swallowing, Callum shifted his focus to the woman directly in front of him. She was fiftyish, plump, and squat with curly dishwater hair. “What was the name again?”
“That’s lovely.” He grinned through the qualm inflicted by the name. “I once had a wife called Sorcha.”
His statement clearly aroused her interest. “Would you be looking for a new wife by any chance, your lordship? Because, if you are, I ken a bonny lass who’d be just perfect for you.”
“Oh, aye?” Still smiling falsely, he arched an eyebrow. “What sign would she be then?”
“She’s a Gemini.” The woman beamed at him in a manner suggesting the lady in question was probably her daughter.
“Ah. I see.” He cleared his throat. “Well, Sorcha, that’s too bad. Because, you see, I make it a strict policy never to get tangled up with anyone born under the sign of the twins. They’re far too changeable for me, I’m afraid.”
He signed her book and handed it back. He made more or less the same claim whatever the answer. Well-meaning women were forever trying to set him up—usually with themselves. He sought out the dark-haired lass again, wondering what sign she might be. Not that it mattered, since what he had in
mind would be brief and involve very little talking.

Release Date: May 24Here’s the blurb for Knight of Cups:
When Gwyndolen Darling, a sexual abuse survivor who lives in a fantasy world, travels to Scotland to meet her obsession, she soon finds herself in a dark faery tale of epic proportions. Sir Leith MacQuill, the object of her quest, isn’t just a reclusive author who’s into BDSM, he also is a shapeshifting faery knight who carries a curse that will kill any woman who captures his heart.
When his usual methods fail to protect Gwyn, a dead ringer for the wife he tragically lost back in 1746, Sir Leith must find a way to break the curse or lose his One True Love a second time. Unfortunately, the article he needs to reverse the hex is in the otherworld land he was banished from by the ruthless faery queen who cursed him.
Gwyn must, therefore, undertake the dangerous mission alone. Will she find the courage to fight for herself and her knight? Or will she choose to stay inside the imaginary tower she’s built to keep herself safe from the world?
Here’s an excerpt from Knight of Cups:
Leith slipped into the garden shed, stripped off his clothes, and contemplated what lay ahead. Shifting was a self-abandoning experience much the way orgasm was. La petite mort, the French called it. The little death. Orgasm, not shifting. The absolute dissolution of mind and body brought about by shifting was closer to a near-death experience.
Peace followed the quieting of conscious thought, especially the grief and regret that seemed always to be squirming inside his heart like worms boring their way through an apple.
The hush of animal instinct was heavenly—or would be if his human self didn’t squat in the background making a nuisance of itself. Conversely, the cat was always there, too, living inside him like a restless embryo, constantly striving to make more room for itself inside his subconscious womb.
Sometimes it was a wildcat, big and blood-hungry. Other times it was a kitten, docile and contented. Often, it woke him in the night, needing to stretch its restricted limbs. Occasionally, its swiping claws would tear at his insides, drawing blood.
The change was nothing to him now (the whole process only took a minute), but it wasn’t always so. Like sex or roleplaying, like everything, really, shifting got easier with practice.
In the early days, the transformation took place from the inside out. He would sit for a spell meditating upon the picture of himself as the cat before speaking the incantation. He would imagine himself growing fur, a snout, and a tail; envision his hands and feet becoming paws and his ears rising to the top of his head to form points. It took a considerable amount of effort and concentration back then.
Now, he simply called the sleeping cat forth.
Here, kitty, kitty.
Well, no, it wasn’t quite that simple. He still had to recite the ancient spell Belphoebe taught him before he turned her over to the druids and imagine himself covered in black fur with a long tail and slanted green eyes.
Taking a deep breath, he got down on all fours on the shed’s dirty floor. Grit dug into his knees and palms as he called the image of a Kellas Cat into his mind and spoke the magic words.
His hands and feet changed first. The feeling was like the chills one gets with a fever. His toes and fingers retracted as their nailbeds sprouted claws. He dug their sharp points into the rough wood of the floor as a symphony of smells waltzed up his elongating snout. The sharply pungent steer manure behind him led the way, followed by the garden’s roses, lavender, and honeysuckle. The sea come next with his bracing primordial pong. Then, the woods joined in with the soft notes of soil, grass, pine, and decaying leaves. Finally, he caught the scent of that earthy perfume Mother Nature dabbed on after the first few drops of rain.
Inside him, the cat purred like a lawnmower.
His shoulders, back, and haunches changed next. The hands of an invisible sculptor pushed, pulled, and reshaped the cellular clay of his form. Flesh, blood, and bone magically and painlessly reconfigured in a matter of moments.

Simply put, a secret keeper is a person, male or female that bears an ancient curse that allows them to change a person’s history and erase their mistakes, making their secret disappear, forever. The catch, next time the guilty party has a secret, they will not be able to tell it, even if they want to.
And this is where the Secret Keeper series starts……

In book one of the Secret Keeper series Winter Merrill does something she regrets. Her need to hide her mistake is a powerful catalyst that leads her to the door of a mysterious and enchanting woman who calls herself The Secret Keeper. Will she be able to break the curse in time, or she pay an unthinkable price to loose her tongue and save everyone she loves?
Released March 2016: In The Dying Light
In book 2 …Forever changed by a deal gone awry with her secret keeper, Winter now lives an isolated existence wanting nothing more than be freed from the dark influence of the secret keeper curse in her life. An Immortal Valentine’s Night is the first YA novella in the Immortal Future series, starring the sons and daughters of Marcus and Alexander from The Immortals.
WHO WILL I GET MY VALENTINE FROM?
I received an ARC from the Author MONICA LA PORTA in exchange for an honest opinion. This is Mismousey’s very honest opinion of her book – THE IMMORTAL VALENTINE NIGHT.
Having read the entire series of IMMORTAL’S to date- I already know the writing style of Ms Porta. And what to expect of this author in her books. Let me tell – she brought it and more with this one. Ms. Porta writing style is unique one and true to her own. She has such a way when creating Immortal’s . That you actually believe you are there with them. Her teenagers have been crafted down to the smallest detail to act like and feel like regular teenagers. Except they are supernatural ones. Ms. La Porta storyline is pure genius – so are her characters and scenes. Once you start reading this out of world story – you are held captive till the very end. Then you are left wanting more of Immortal’s . And can hardly wait till the next book comes out. You have to know more what happens next to the younger generation of Marcus and Alexander.
As our story opens we are school and it is night time. The seniors are in Italian Lit. – Darius was thinking about Selene as she was not in nocturnal class tonight. Tonight she was taking her driving test .Their teacher Mrs. Lanetti was interrupted by a knock at the door. She wanted to know what Daniel wanted. He came in and explained that the Seniors were having a Valentine’s Day party . It’s a secret Valentine theme this year. Here are the invites all you have to is follow the directions on the inside.
Find a pen—there are plenty for everyone, you just need to look around—and write your valentine message under the heart.
Fold the card. Turn it over.
Write the name of your valentine on the back of the card.
An arrow suggested to turn the paper to read the rest of the instructions.
Show up at Santa Severa Castle by midnight tomorrow.
Give your card to your valentine.
In the meantime– Arianna ( who is one of the triples if you remember) she has a relationship with Daniel. He is the best friend of her brothers. They haven’t told them yet- but they are hoping to tell them soon how they feel towards each other. Every male has to give out a Valentine card. Selene is hoping to get one from Daniel – however when she is in the girl’s bathroom. She overhears Nilla talking to her girlfriends about what she saw Serses do. She is s upset about – that when Nilla leave she is found crying in the bathroom. Arianna went into the bathroom to brush her teeth and found her – she invited her over to her house the following week. Which really cheered her up the bell rang – they had to rush to get to their next class.
Serses tells his brother he wrote his valentine to Mr Valerius ( their teacher). Darius wait for brother after class while he gives him the card.Serses has never felt this way before for anyone. Before Mr.Valerius could say anything he placed the card in his hand and turned left.
As he is walking outside he walks into Selene. They start talking and walk out of the out of the school together. He gives his brother the thumbs up sign. Darius then gets on his airbike rides over to where they are. He asks if he can give her a lift home. Thinking that it might cause problems with between him and his brother. OPERATION COSMIC TEAPOT
GENRE- FANTASY HUMOR COMEDY PHILOSOPHY
RELEASED DECEMBER 2015
“A virgin birth? A virgin? Her?” God shouted at Freud while recalling his one night stand with Mary. Freud snorted another line of cocaine in celebration, believing that this story would help Nietzsche in his quest to fire God from Heaven Inc. Nietzsche; however, had other problems: the Norse gods were running amok on Earth, his board of directors were in a constant state of chaos, and syphilis pushed him into a past life that he would rather forget.
I recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Friedrich Nietzsche, one of the world’s most profound and disturbing philosophers. In the discussion, we were able to talk about his role in the book, Operation Cosmic Teapot, and his former life.
Please introduce yourself.
I’m Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche. I wrote many important works of philosophy, including The Gay Science, Beyond Good and Evil, and of course, The Will to Power. I am also the protagonist in Operation Cosmic Teapot.
In Operation Cosmic Teapot, you hold a grudge against God. Can you tell us more about that?
Sure, but I wouldn’t call it a grudge as much as I would a vendetta. You see, during my life he took away everything from me. It started with my father and younger brother, when I was six years old. I mean, my father was a minister – how could He do that? To tell you the truth, during most my life I didn’t think that He even existed.
To my surprise, in the afterlife, I was named as CEO of Heaven Inc. That’s when I found out that God really did exist. It was a shock to see Him, to say the least. I think it’s even more shocking that because of my role, I was His boss. That’s when I started to hatch my plan for revenge.
What revenge is that?
To fire God. To finally get rid of Him from the world stage of religion.
In the book, you keep slipping into the past. Why is that?
Some people want to blame it on my syphilis. I’m not so sure that I have syphilis; I’m still waiting for those medical results. Truth is, as much as I want to forget about what happened during my life, I am thrown back into it. I can’t tell you how painful it is to relive those moments. It’s like a home movie constantly playing in my head.
You also have a problem with the Norse Gods. Can you tell me a little about that?
The Norse Gods are no different than Richard Wagner. He used those silly Muppets to espouse his fascist propaganda. He called it the German spirit, but it was nothing more than anti-Semitism, if you ask me. So, when the Norse Gods escaped from Heaven Inc., I had to track them down.
You really do seem filled with anger. Do you think that maybe it’s time for you to seek psychological help?
How dare you suggest such a thing! I’m not filled with anger. I’m just trying to right the wrongs that were done.
I have one last, fun question for you. If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be, and why?
Well that’s a stupid question. Why would you ask me such a thing?
It’s for fun.
Then I’d be a tree that can kick your ass.
Never mind. Thank you for taking time to talk to me.
Uh huh. A pleasure.
CAN I GET AWAY WITH IT?
I receive an ARC from the author DYLAN CALLENS in exchange for an honest opinion. This is Mismousey’s very honest opinion of his book- OPERATION COSMIC TEAPOT.
Haven’t heard of Mr. Callens before? Hmmm- well that’s because he is a brand new author. And this is his very first book. Saying that then- I was unsure of what type of author Mr Callens was exactly. His book from reading the blurb or book bio sounded interesting. Very different – I would even say that once I started reading it this thought provoking book. I found it very Philosophical. Now this is a type of book that the mouse does not read very often.
Operation Cosmic Teapot is satire with a twist of philosophical hints throughout You will find yourself wondering of you are actually on this cosmic planet – or of by some chance you ended up maybe reading Freud patient note’s by mistake.
Mr. Callens is a unique writer along with being a creative one. He has brought to life before the reader’s eyes. You are able to visualize seeing everything right in front of you. The call center – Odin -Loki-Thor-Freud- Newton and the rest. Picture this now a big call center as big as let’s say maybe as be what is Microsoft is. But this one is called Heaven Inc….
Yeah that’ right … Our story open up inside the call center with the big guy himself – Nietzsche trying to figure out a way to fire GOD. He has called a board meeting. Along with having God being ordered to see Dr Freud. For some mandatory sessions. Nietz believes that he can find something in the sessions to have him fired. But while he is working on trying to get rid of God – he also has another problem and that is the Norse Gods. It seems that are have stolen some information from Heaven Inc. Now he has to find them and bring them back.
You have the Norse Gods- Baal-God -several other lesser God are also mentioned. During this time Nietzsche who is consumed with getting his enemy out of Heaven Inc. By the end of the story does Nietz realize what is important? Will Humanity itself accept what we have done?
This is one book you want to read slow. In order to take grasp writers meaning. It is a very thoughtful and a thought provoking book. One that I do recommend for all readers. Mismousey does give this a firm rating of 70 out 5 stars.

Dylan grew up in Delhi, Ontario. From a young age, he was always interested in writing; however, in high school, his interests were focused more towards music. He dreamed of being famous in a heavy metal band named Nothing Sacred. Unfortunately, the band wasn’t all that good, so fame and fortune never transpired.
Afterwards, Dylan moved to Sudbury, Ontario to attend Laurentian University. While attending, he wrote for the university paper, Lambda, as a columnist, then news editor. He watched as the paper fell to shit due to the brilliant decisions of an idiot edit-in-chief (not Norm, the other guy!). Because of that, he left to become the Program Director at CKLU radio. Somewhere in there, Dylan was able to graduate with a degree in English and philosophy.
With such a heavy demand for philosophers in the workplace, Dylan decided to attend teacher’s college. He found a job teaching in Sudbury, where he continues to live with his family.

I’m a North Jersey girl of multi-cultural origin (Spanish, Italian and more than a few drops of Incan blood). At an early age I set off on global adventures, living in Madrid, Hong Kong, London and Copenhagen before returning to the United States.
I have been a corporate debt collector for multinationals such a Microsoft and Honeywell. Being fluent in several languages came in handy when asking for money.
In my spare time have raised two sets of kids, bio and step that are all wonderful and grown up. Thankful and grateful to them no serious issues involving the law, gangs, debts, odd substances, or messy love affairs. So far…
A graduate of The London School of Economics, New York University and I studied acting at The Lee Strasberg Institute in London where I honed a deep theatre voice which only led to roles as an elderly woman even in my twenties.
Besides being a writer, film producer, and finance professional, I had some short-lived careers as an actor, theatre director, Boy Scout merit badge counselor and a jazz singer.
I split my time between Los Angeles and Boca Raton.
