blurb

She’ll risk everything for their love—even her life.

Aspiring
screenwriter Gwyn Morland is ready for her big break. That means
securing the film rights to elusive author Lady Ruthven’s acclaimed
novel—which means traveling to Scotland. It’s a trip timid Gwyn isn’t
prepared for, and her fears seem justified when her tour bus careens
over a cliff outside of Castle Glenarvon. But the plot thickens when
Gwyn is rescued from the brink of death by a handsome and mysterious
stranger…

Leith MacQuill is not only the writer behind Lady
Ruthven’s novel, but a shape-shifting faery knight bearing a tragic
curse: the woman he gives his heart to will die. Saving Gwyn proves to
be a dangerous choice when he finds himself falling for her the longer
she stays in the castle. Not even his usual BDSM role-playing games are
enough to thwart the intense desire they feel for each other. But to
stay together, Gwyn and Leith must embark on a dangerous mission into
Avalon, the realm of the faeries. Will their love be strong enough to
conquer the curse? Or will Gwyn’s new life be stolen from her before
it’s even begun?

I received an ARC from the author NINA MASON-in exchange for an honest opinion. This is Mismousey’s very honest opinion of her  DARK AND STORMY KNIGHT .
Having read other books written by this fabulous -delicious and very talented author. I already knew that Ms. Mason has a true gift of creativity and imagination. She takes her readers on one wild ride after another. You never know what to expect next. Or even how the story will play out or end. Her characters are so well developed and described. As are the scenes. As a reader you able to visualize everything to the smallest detail.
Once Ms. Mason takes pen to paper a magical -beautiful-amazing and creative story is bursting forth. She has such a creative mind – and the characters talk to her in such a way. That only they can do with her.
DARK AND STORMY KNIGHT -is the second book in the Avalon Series. The first book is Starry Knight. We were introduced to the world of Avalon along with fae. In it we learned that our “Knights” who escaped from Avalon and the wicked Queen. Well -before they actually escaped the devils were her lovers. That is until she got tired of them and had an order for their death sentence to be carried out. Hence their escape from Avalon. Also as Knights of Avalon they also had to drink blood-like vampires.
So as our book opens we are introduced to another Knight. This one is named Leith MacQuill- he uses a pen name to write books. A screenwriter by the name of Gwen Moreland is traveling to his castle. Wanting to meet the author of the screenplay is currently working on. Along with getting a signed contract from Lady Ruthven ( who just so happened to have written the play). As Gwen travels in the coach with other passengers during a bad storm. It gets hits by lighting-goes over the cliff. Seeing the accident happen Leith runs to aide the passengers. When Gwen wakes up -she finds herself in a strange bed. Not knowing what had happened to her or the others. Till she is finally informed.
Little by little Gwen finds out about Leith. She falls for him and wants him more each day. However- he tells her that it can not happen. They can not be together. Not ever! Over time he finally explains the curse that has been placed upon him. How it came to be and who put it there. Gwen wants to fight for them. He tells her to forget about them. As it will only cause her death.
Now will they be able to over the curse? Can Leith escape Avalon and the Queen again to save his true love?
This story has so many different twist and turns. You never know which way you are going. You are left on the edge of your seat/edge of the page reading. Ms. Mason keeps you in such suspense that since you are sitting on the edge of the seat having to know what happens next. You keep reading till you have completed the book. This is one book YOU WILL DEVOUR IN ONE SITTING !!! I recommend this book to all Readers who love Fantasy an Paranormal. Mismousey gives it a firm rating of 80 of 5 stars. Here’s a little bit about The Knights of Avalon series in Nina’s own words:

The Knights of Avalon, the four-part erotic PNR/UF series,
was born of a simple idea: to write a series incorporating different forms of
divination. From that kernel grew the far more complex world of the series. The
“knights” of Avalon, the enchanted otherworld isle featured in Arthurian and
Celtic legend, were Scottish noblemen who, after falling in battle, were taken
by the fairies to serve as breeding drones to their queen. Each of the four books
in the series tells the story of a particular knight and the heroine whose love
saves him from his unhappy existence.
Each knight in the series grapples with a different relationship
with Morgan Le Fay, the cruel and selfish queen of Avalon. Callum Lyon, the hero
of STARRY KNIGHT (book one), is free of Morgan’s influence, having escaped enslavement
by faking his own death. Leith MacQuill, the hero of DARK AND STORMY KNIGHT
(book two), was expelled from Avalon after the queen discovered his affair with
one of her scouts. In book three, KNIGHT OF ENCHANTMENT, Axel Lochlann, a Scottish
runemaster of Viking descent, guards the portal between Hitherworld (our realm)
and Thitherworld (the otherworldly realm). The fourth knight, Finn MacKnight, doesn’t
know what he is or that he’s destined to fulfill an ancient prophecy telling of
the queen’s overthrow by a “natural-born” drone. Because of this prophecy,
Morgan kills all the male children she bears and punishes the knights who
father them
Avalonian knights are vampire-like, but not vampires
per se. Members of the Unseelie Fae, they drink blood and can assume the form
of any creature they choose, but generally take the form of a particular animal
to hunt. Callum’s preferred form is a lion, Leith’s is a Kellas Cat (a cross
between a wild cat and a domestic cat found only in Scotland), Axel’s is a
gyrfalcon, and Finn’s will be a jaguar.

And one of them is determined to drag Moira into the afterlife with him.

Reviewmouse_zpsa97eb0d4HEARING VOICES GOOD OR BAD?

I received an ARC from the author CLARISSA JOHAL-in exchange for an honest opinion. This is Mismousey’s very honest opinion of her book VOICES.

Having never read anything that Clarissa Johal has written. I was unsure of what to expect. But- I can say this- from the very first page of the book. You are held hostage! Voices is a edge of your page /seat read. You have to know what is going to happen next.

Ms. Johal is an exceptional author with her writing. When she takes her pen to paper- she creates such a creative -mind blowing story. One that will make you think. Can or does this happen ?

As our story opens we find our main character Moira Flynn in a mental hospital. It  was part of her plea deal with the judge. If she went there and seeked help for voluntary treatment. Then the charges would be dropped. So here she is. Now Moira and her 2 friends (voices that no one hears or sees) basically stay in her room. That is until a new kid comes by the name of Adam Blackwood. They seemed to have something in common. Except Adam could actually see her ghosts. And he knew that one of them is not good at all. Adam decides to hang out with Moira. The doctors are trying to medicate him -however her doctor doesn’t feel it would be in her best interest to.

As Moira starts talking to her therapist Dr. Cassano. He finds out more and more about her and her childhood. He also finds out about the voices she is hearing. Dr. Cassano is starting to think that she is not schizophrenic-but is actually hearing voices in her head. If that is possible. He has a friend that deals with superstitions and how to rid them.

As time goes on Richard (who is Dr. Cassano) finds out that the little girl Isabella was one of the children at the foster home where she lived. Some thing happened there and to her. Now -I’m not gonna tell you what or how Isabella leaves Moira alone for good. As that would be giving away a spoiler. Let’s just say YOU NEED TO READ THIS AMAZING BOOK!!

Now Adam get away from the hospital and gets Moira also. Together they escape to a new place. Although she is still being bothered by that one ghost Jack. He wants to make her his. He keeps taking her back to the last night he was alive. Poor Moira- she keeps thinking that its her fault that he died. When Adam is around – Jack isn’t. Although he is starting to get stronger .

When Adam and Moira are in the forest hiding out together. Some things start to happen. Richard is looking for her as she is in danger not from Adam but from Jack.

Will Adam be able to save Moira from Jack? What about Richard ? Can Richard save both Adam and Moira ? And what happens with the hospital?

This story has so many twist and turns in . It keeps you on your toes! You never know what to expect. From the very first page it captures your attention. And holds it till the very end. I can say this -it is a edge of the seat/edge of the page turner. I recommend this book to all readers- especially those that paranormal. Mismousey gives it a firm 70 out 5 stars.

Excerpt:

They got their food and sat at one of the dining room tables in the corner. Moira pretended not to notice a couple of raised eyebrows from the other patients.

“How long have you been able to see them?”

“Who?”

“Your ghosts.”

“For a while,” Moira replied vaguely.

Adam picked up his dinner roll and took a large bite. “My guess is longer than just ‘a while.’”

Moira’s attention was captured again by his green eye, so sharply contrasting his brown one. He was almost too intense to look at. Almost.

“How did you get the scratches?” His gaze settled on her cheek.

“One of the other patients started a fight,” she said, covering her cheek with her hand. “I guess she doesn’t like me.”

“What’s not to like? You seem okay to me.”

Oddly, his statement made her stomach do a flip-flop. “Thanks.”

“You know how some people are, quick to judge.” He dropped his fork and bent to retrieve it.

Moira pictured herself reaching over and brushing back the lock of dark hair that fell across his forehead. She glanced nervously over her shoulder. Jack and Isabella were strangely silent. Isabella was probably just trying to figure out what childish thing she could say, but Jack…she knew that Jack was sizing Adam up; he did it with every man she came into contact with. And she knew he wouldn’t appreciate her noticing how handsome Adam was either.

“I’m sure they upped her meds,” Adam said as he tossed the fork onto the table again. “This place sucks. It won’t do a damn thing but make you spill your guts, drive you crazy or turn you into a zombie. Last pills they sent me home with made me feel like my skull was being split with a meat cleaver.”

“So you stopped taking them?”

“Yep.”

“How did you end up back here?”

“My brother called the cops. Lying asshole, I should be used to it by now,” Adam muttered. “I was staying with him until I got my shit together, but he walked in on me as I was flushing my pill down the toilet and freaked out.” A look of distress crossed his face. “Whatever, I’ll be out soon enough.” He finished his roll and started on an apple. “What did your doctor put you on? Who is your doctor anyways?”

“Um, he hasn’t put me on anything yet. I see Dr. Cassano.”

“Ahh, Dr. Cassano.” He raised an eyebrow. “I hear the nurses talking about him all the time.”

“He’s nice enough.”

“I see Dr. Leo. He’s an asshole.” He spit out the bite of his apple and without getting up, tossed the rest of it into the garbage, basketball style. “Have you spoken to your ghosts about leaving?”

“I’ve …tried.”

“They won’t?”

“No.”

“You want me to ask them for you?”

“Seriously?” She stayed an initial surge of hopefulness and reminded herself that Adam was in here because he was crazy. Not like her at all.

“I can try.”

He settled back and stared right at Isabella. That’s a fluke, she thought. He just picked an empty spot next to me.

“You need to go,” Adam said simply. “Moira doesn’t want you around her.” He waited a beat. “Wow, she’s hostel. Kids can be such brats. I’ll try your other one.”

He looked right at where Jack stood. The other empty spot next to me, she reminded herself.

“Leave. Your time is done, tall guy. You have no business being here anymore.”

She felt Jack’s presence crackle with anger.

“He’s even more hostel than she is,” Adam said. “Sucks for you.”

Moira felt her hopes deflate. Well, it’s not as if he can really see them, she thought. “Thanks anyways.”

He aimed his plastic cup towards the trash and tossed it. It missed and rolled towards the kitchen door. “Damn. No points for me.”

The cook leaned out the kitchen door and waved his ladle at them. “Stop tossing your garbage everywhere, you’re getting milk on the floor. Somebody’s got to mop that up.”

“I hate that a culinary genius like you has to do that,” Adam called back with a straight face.

“Smart ass,” the cook replied. “You lucky I don’t spit in your food.”

Adam held his hands up in mock surrender. “I know you say that with love, Nathan.” He picked up his tray. “See you around.”

Moira watched him swagger away. It suddenly dawned on her that she hadn’t mentioned Isabella was a child or said anything about Jack.

Lucky guess.
